As an education researcher and a learning scientist, I study how meaningful change unfolds over time, how people grow, how beliefs shift, and how organizations and communities create better conditions for everyone to learn and thrive. I bring over 20 years of experience in educational technology, business analysis, data science, teaching, research, and instructional design that helps me support educators, leaders, curriculum developers, and community partners in understanding what supports real learning and what gets in the way.
I focus on how educators, learners, and communities make sense of their experiences and environments, and take action within complex systems. Over the years, my research has examined organizational sense-making, policy implementations, inequities in school and college structures, collaborative learning in classrooms, teacher noticing practices, and how people co-design solutions and build collective agency and accountability to solve problems together.
More recently, I have expanded this work beyond formal educational spaces to study learning in communities and social movements, exploring how relationships and care ethics shape critical awareness and action for justice. I also study staff and teacher retention for school districts, and the conditions that help people stay in the field of education.
I use a mix of quantitative and qualitative analyses, as well as social design-based experiments, to connect understanding of broader systems with everyday experiences on the ground.
My goal at Relearn Labs is to help educational institutions, change leaders, and educators turn research insights into meaningful change and create more equitable, connective learning cultures.
