Our mission is to conduct rigorous research on the nature of learning—what is learned, why, and how it unfolds—understanding learning as something shaped simultaneously by cultural and political forces and by the immediate relations of people and materials, and to translate this knowledge into education policy and practice.

In a world divided by “isms,” borders, and ideologies, we envision a future where people are more willing to examine and challenge the beliefs and structures that sustain these divides, and work toward reconfiguring a more just and joyful world for children to live and learn in.
